If you like to bicycle, this is a great area.

There are miles and miles of roads to explore.

For those used to a trip around the block, a trip to Cross Village can be a beautiful 7-mile excursion. There are sidewalks and side streets in town for the kids.

For those looking for more, a trip to Harbor Springs, through the Tunnel of Trees, is about 50 miles round trip. There are a few hills that will get your blood pumping. Make sure to stop at The Little Red Bench for a break and a view of Lake Michigan. You can fill your water bottles at the free flowing spring near the harbor in Harbor Springs. A great place for a sandwich is the Gurney’s Harbor Bottle Shop located at
215 East Main Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740. Park your bike in back. It has a fantastic deli with many fine wines and liquors. Make sure to stop by Toms Moms Cookies (turn left out the back door of Gurney’s) then head down to the waterfront park and enjoy lunch.

Head east along the waterfront and see some of the historic homes in the Wequetonsing Association.

You can pickup the Little Traverse Wheelway in Harbor Springs and head another 26 miles to Charlevoix.

Mackinaw City is a little easier ride, but is still about a 50 mile round trip.

You can hike or bike down Arbutus or Wycamp Road. The roads are dirt and sand, so something a little wider than road tires work best if you bicycle. A mile or so down Wycamp Road is Wycamp Lake. It is a very pretty and quiet wooded setting.
